Fundraising concert raises £450 for Highbridge Festival of the Arts

-

Dozens of supporters of Highbridge’s Festival of The Arts flocked to a fundraising concert in the town on Saturday evening (May 14th).

Under the direction of Musical Director Sheila Philip, the King Alfred Concert Band played a varied programme of tunes in Highbridge’s St John’s Church, including the Royal Air March Past, themes from Jurassic Park and solos from the band’s talented players.

The event raised much-needed funds towards next year’s Festival Of The Arts, which will be the 65th.

Among those lending their support to the festival at Saturday’s concert were Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, pictured above with festival Chairwoman Denise Berry and Drama Secretary Anne Bannister.

Denise told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We raised in excess of £450 and are very grateful to the King Alfred Concert Band and soloists for their performances which have helped us to continue our fundraising. This fundraising will, hopefully, ensure the continuation of the festival for the future.”
