Harvest theme for this Friday’s Burnham-On-Sea Farmers Market

-

Over a dozen traders will be selling a wide range of locally-grown products when Burnham-On-Sea’s monthly farmers market returns to the town on Friday (September 26th) with a harvest theme.

The market will be held in the High Street from 9am-1pm with stalls offering local produce including fruit plus local meat, vegetables, cakes, cheese, pies, bakery items and milk.

Market co-ordinator Louise Hall told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re in harvest festival spirits with a bumper crop of producers this Friday and with on-the-day culinary action from the Burnham-On-Sea Food Festival team who will be cooking tasters in a pop-up kitchen!”

“There will be lots of familiar faces back at the market including Ellises Farm with their delicious pork and charcuterie and the Red Chilli Shop locomotive for Alistair’s popular sauces and hot food on the day.”

“We have an additional chocolate theme with A-Lot-A-Choc having their Burnham debut. Sharon Newton trained with a French chocolatier before bringing her skills back to Somerset to enrich our chocolate eating experience.”

“Meanwhile, Sam Musson has been developing the most flavoursome chocolate brownies around and, after a one-off August slot in Burnham, is back by popular demand and no doubt with a new flavour combination.”

“Unfortunately, Jan Bakes is away so Country Markets will be bringing along a range of cakes as well as their preserves – what a multi-talented bunch!”

“The Food and Drink Festival will also be at the market, cooking up tasty samples from the produce available. They are showcasing how easy it is to experience some of the “harvest fever” during Love British Food fortnight”

Friday’s stalls will include:

  • A-Lot-A-Choc – could this be the best chocolate around? Taste it and see!
  • Country Markets – preserves and, this month, cakes
  • Ellises Farm – traditional breed pork, hams, salami and chorizo
  • G M Country Sports – game in season and venison all year round
  • In Clover – hardy perennial plants and handcrafted willow plant supports
  • Liberty Cakes – brownies and more brownies
  • Moorland Farm – Aberdeeen Angus beef from Axbridge
  • Portbridge Farm – full range of vegetables
  • Taylors Traditional Bakers – plus range of speciality breads
  • Times Past Cheese Dairy – from traditional truckles to flavoured cheddars
