The sights and sounds of vintage farm machinery working in summers gone by are set to return to Isleport Farm in Highbridge this weekend.
The annual vintage farm machinery show on July 26th and 27th will include a gathering of road rollers and associated implements once owned by Highbridge road making contractor W.W.Buncombe along with a display of photographs of the engines in their working days.
There will also be demonstrations of ploughing, threshing, hay making and country crafts throughout the weekend.
Many rare and previously unseen pieces of farm machinery and equipment will be on display and working.
Visitors will also be able to view displays of Steam Traction Engines, Vintage Tractors, Vintage and Classic Cars, Motorcycles, Commercial Vehicles, Horticultural Machinery and Stationary Engines.
There will also be a market trade area and the sounds of vintage fairground organs.
Organisers say they are pleased to welcome back the South West Tractor Pullers who will be demonstrating ‘The World’s Most Powerful Motor Sport’, pulling a heavily weighted sled down a track with highly modified, high horsepower farm tractors and trucks.
A fly-past is planned by aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, weather permitting on Saturday.
Last year’s show raised over £2,000 for our chosen charities and once again we will be supporting the Macmillan Nurses and the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance.
The show is open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are: adults £6 and children under 16 free.
Isleport Farm can be found just North of Highbridge near Junction 22 of the M5, Post code TA9 4QX.
