Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club enjoyed a game of top flight football after competing in social tennis tournament on Saturday.
The club’s event coincided with the big game, so after the 28 players had enjoyed playing mixed doubles during the early part of the day, they retired to the clubhouse to watch the big game on a large screen.
Head Coach Vinny Duddy, who organised the event, said: “It was a real success with a great range of players taking part, from Avenue Junior Academy players Joe and Daniel Rosser and Jess Griffiths to first team players Craig Phillips and Adam Teague. The event was jointly won, with 27 points each, by Lee Fowler and Jess Griffiths with teenagers Tom Holder and Rob Horler.”
The club will be running a Mini Tennis Red and Orange Tournaments on Sunday 20th May from 11am and 1pm respectively. A Road to Wimbledon event will also be held for under 14s at the club on Saturday 26th May.
