Quick-thinking organisers of the Highbridge and Burnham carnival have come up with a speedy way of driving up fundraising for this year’s event.
They have bought this fully-working replica of Lewis Hamilton’s Formula One car and this week launched a competition to win a ride in it during the annual carnival procession.
Tickets, costing £1 each, will be on sale during this Saturday’s Lions Club Fun Day on Burnham-On-Sea seafront.
When Carnival organisers Phil New, Jayne Cherrington and Jan Paul (pictured) heard the vehicle was on sale, they jumped at the chance to buy it.
“We bought it as an attraction for the carnival, then thought it would be a unique way of raising funds,” Phil told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Our competition is open to 5-9 year old boys and girls, who can win the opportunity of sitting in the car and being towed around in this year’s carnival procession.”
“We’ve have had a lot of interest already from several Formula One enthusiasts, as well as youngsters!”
The group are also seeking sponsors who can have their name on the side of the car, and a mechanic to look after it.
