New figures published this week show district councillors have claimed £328,015 of expenses in the past year, a small increase of just 3.7 per cent on the previous year.
The full list of claims made by councillors in the Burnham area has been published online by Burnham-On-Sea.com here.
The highest total claimed by a local councillor came from Brent Knoll’s Bob Filmer (£9,048.49), who attends a high number of meetings in his role as chairman of the council’s planning committee.
The other totals claimed locally are Joe Leach (£7,034.58), Dennis Davey (£5,634.33), Neville Jones (£4,692.27), Danny Titcombe (£4,156.52), Arthur Thorogood (£4,284.12), Mike Mansfield (£4,339.72) and Peter Burridge-Clayton (£4,156.52).
The claims also show that three local councillors – Highbridge’s Joe Leach, Burnham’s Peter Burridge-Clayton and Burnham’s Danny Titcombe – did not make any claims for travel expenses in the past year.
Sedgemoor District Council leader Duncan McGinty claimed the most expenses of any councillor at £21,364.77, including £1,808.10 on travel.
