Burnham voters advised to check polling cards before Euro election

-

Residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area who are planning to vote in Thursday’s European Elections are being advised to make sure they know which polling station they need to use.

Some people may need to visit a different polling station to the one they are used to, says Sedgemoor District Council.

Polling cards have been sent out to all electors eligible to vote in the elections and people are being asked to check their poll card carefully to see exactly which polling station they should use.

Chris Facey, the council’s elections officer, explained: “There have been a number of changes to polling stations in Sedgemoor for this year’s European elections, so I would ask voters to carefully check their polling cards to make sure they know which polling station they need to visit.”

Across the Burnham area, voters will be able to choose between candidates for the South West region representing eight parties – the Conservatives, English Democrats, Greens, Labour, Lib Dems, UK Independence Party, British National Party and An Independence from Europe. The full list of candidates is available here.

Within the Sedgemoor area, votes will be verified (but not counted) from 10pm on 22nd May at Bridgwater Town Hall while the count itself will take place from 4pm on Sunday 25th May.

The results for all voting regions across the South West will then be sent to Poole Borough Council, which is the co-ordinating authority for the South West, where they will be combined to produce one definitive set of results for the entire South West region. The results are expected to be announced at approximately midnight on Sunday, May 25th.
