Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor leads ‘get well’ wishes for councillor

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has led the best wishes being paid to a fellow town councillor who suffered a sudden heart attack.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported on Monday how Cllr Eric Gill had suffered a mild heart attack and had been rushed to Weston Hospital, where he is recovering.

Mayor Michael Clarke and Deputy Mayor Pauline Pollard were among a group of town councillors who signed Eric’s get well card at Monday night’s town council meeting.

The Mayor said: “Our thoughts are with Eric and Gilli at this difficult time and we wish Eric a speedy recovery.”

Former Mayor Eric is a long-running councillor who represents Burnham South on Sedgemoor District Council and is also a town councillor.

Cllr Dennis Davey visited Eric in hospital on Monday and said “faces more tests in Bristol over the next few days, but is cheerful and his usual bouncy self.”

Eric’s wife, Gilli, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The support shown to me by people and groups in the town has been absolutely wonderful.”

Users of Burnham-On-Sea’s discussion forums have been sending him good wishes here.
