The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for Somerset’s coastline today (Wednesday) due to high ‘Spring’ tides.
The agency there is a risk of overtopping of sea walls with spray in several places and has issued a warning message.
A spokesman said: “A large tidal surge is combining with ‘spring’ tides.”
“Flooding to roads and farmland is possible at these times, and conditions may apply several hours either side of the high tide.”
“We believe there is a possibility of flooding for coastal and tidal areas at Minehead, Combwich, Bridgwater, Burnham-On-Sea, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, Kewstoke, Sand Bay and Kingston Seymour.”
“We are monitoring the situation closely. Field staff are carrying out tide watches at coastal locations.”
