A fish and chip shop is set to re-open in Highbridge this week with a new name and a new owner.
Elliott Hector is opening ‘Elliott’s Chip Stop’ in Church Street this Friday (November 17th).
It replaces Moore’s fish and chip shop which was a Highbridge landmark for three generations and had been serving up hot food for residents for 86 years. Its well-known owner, Dennis Moore, died exactly one year ahead this week.
Now, Elliott, pictured, is taking on the new business and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have lived in Highbridge for 12 years and know all the history that’s here.”
“I’m sure that Dennis would have loved to know that the premises is continuing as a fish and chip shop – and I will take pride in serving up quality, fresh-cooked food just like he did.”
Elliott added: “I’ve run kitchens in the past and been a chef, so am really looking forward to this new challenge.”
“We will be selling great quality fresh fish along and will have a full takeaway menu, with some specials to come such as steaks.”
“We’ve had plenty of positive feedback already and I’m looking forward to this Friday’s opening.”
Elliott’s Chip Stop will be open Monday to Saturday lunchtimes from 11.30am-2.30pm, and then in the evenings 5pm-10pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and then 5-11pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
