Burnham-On-Sea voters head to the polls for local elections

Voters in Burnham-On-Sea will be heading to the polls throughout today (Thursday, May 5th) as parish and district council elections are held.

Residents will also be taking part in the UK referendum on whether the current ‘first past the post system’ should be replaced by the Alternative Vote system.

Voting stations are open from 7am until 10pm, with the results of the district and parish elections due to be announced during tomorrow, Friday. They will be available here on Burnham-On-Sea.com.

There are 87 polling booths in 71 buildings open today across Sedgemoor and the full list is show at the bottom of this page. Across the district, there are 125 candidates standing for 48 seats.

The town council candidates are as follows:

Highbridge Ward: Jonathan Bickerton (Liberal Democrats), Pat Burge (Independent), Linda Davis (Labour), Helen Groves (Liberal Democrats), Bill Hancock (Liberal Democrats), Richard Hopkins (Labour), Janet Keen (Conservatives), Roger Keen (Conservatives), Alan Miller (Liberal Democrats), Terry Rickard (Conservative Party), Victoria Thompson (Liberal Democrats), Chris Williams (Independent).

Burnham East: Phil Harvey (Liberal Democrats), Kate Lawson (Liberal Democrats), Martin Lloyd (Conservatives), Paul Mills (Conservatives).
