Supporters of a parliamentary candidate in Burnham-On-Sea are fuming after signs promoting their party were ripped down and left scattered over pavements in the town this week.
Several Conservative Party signs promoting David Heathcoat-Amory were attacked in Berrow Road and the pieces left around the junction with Gore Road.
County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton, pictured with one of the damaged signs, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is sad and very disappointing if this was a political attack.”
“Our signs have been attacked at this location here before, so it does appear as though we are being targeted.”
He added that another sign had also been removed from a garden in Stoddens Road.
A Liberal Democrat spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com several of their signs had been targeted locally as well.
“We have had a couple of signs go missing in Wedmore and are unhappy about it. Hundreds of our signs went missing during the run-up to the last election.”
