Liberal Democrats election poster defaced in Burnham-On-Sea

A Liberal Democrat general election advertising poster in Burnham-On-Sea has been controversially defaced by vandals over the weekend.

Using black and white paint, they altered the poster’s words and added a Hitler-style moustache to the image of the party leader.

The poster in Victoria Street – opposite Burnham’s Ritz Cinema – now reads: “We oppose putting targets first. We propose an EU police state.”

The image of Charles Kennedy has also been altered and what appears to be a Hitler-style moustache added.

When the poster was unveiled in London by Mr Kennedy on April 14, it said: “We oppose putting targets first. We propose putting patients first.”

A spokesman for the Wells office of the Liberal Democrats told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is clearly targeted vandalism and we shall be reporting the matter to the police.”
