Date announced for Town Council election in Highbridge

-

Highbridge residents will be going to the polls in November to elect a new town councillor.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this month that a vacancy had arisen following the resignation of a councillor.

Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com last night: “Due to the resignation of the elected councillor for the Highbridge Parish Ward on the Town Council there will be a by-election on 12th November.”

Nomination papers can be obtained during normal office hours from Sedgemoor’s Returning Officer at Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3AR. Nominations close at 4pm on Friday, 16th October.

If the election is contested – and there is more than one nomination – the poll will take place on Thursday, 12th November 2015 between the hours of 7am and 10pm.

Poll cards will be despatched to those registered to vote in the ward as soon as possible after the close of nominations.
