Bookmaker makes Tories favourite to win Burnham’s election race

-

The Conservatives are the favourites to win the General Election seat in the Burnham-On-Sea area, according to new betting odds from leading bookmaker Ladbrokes.

The firm has updated its General Election odds over the past week and in the Wells constituency it makes the Tories the odds-on favourites to win.

Liberal Democrat MP Tessa Munt is 2/1 to win the seat for a second term at May’s election, while the Conservatives’ James Heappey is the 4/11 favourite.

The bookmaker makes UKIP’s candidate Jeffrey Bolter a 33/1 shot to win, while both Labour’s Chris Inchley and The Green Party’s Jon Cousins are 100/1 outsiders.

The Wells constituency is one of the top targets across the whole UK for both the Conservatives and Liberal Democats due to the seat’s marginal status last time, when Tessa Munt won the seat in 2010 by 800 seats.

Liberal Democrat MP Tessa Munt, the Conservative’s James Heappey, Labour’s Chris Inchley UKIP’s Jeffrey Bolter, and The Greens’ Jon Cousins have declared their intentions to run in this year’s election.

Several other independent candidates are also understood to be considering running in the campaign for the Wells seat, which would further widen the field.
