Met Office warns of more heavy rain in Burnham-On-Sea area today

-

A weather warning remains in force for the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Monday) as more rain is forecast.

The Met Office has a yellow warning for rain in place across the Burnham-On-Sea area until 4pm today (Bank Holiday Monday), saying it will cause difficult driving conditions and could cause travel delays.

Heavy rain fell overnight, leaving surface water on local roads and further showers are predicted through the day.

It comes after poor weather hit the holiday trade of shops in Burnham-On-Sea town centre, with some reporting their ‘worst-ever’ Good Friday and a poor Saturday.

Several holiday parks at Brean have had to turn away some holidaymakers due to flooded grass areas, among them was Warren Farm. Brean Golf Course was also closed on Saturday due to flooded greens.

In West Huntspill, the Somerst and Dorset Memorial Railway group cancelled its traditional easter egg hunt due to the flooding of fields, as outlined in its poster pictured here.

Secret World in East Huntspill also cancelled its Easter fun day, which was planned for Saturday, due to flooded parking areas.
