Burnham-On-Sea traders have enjoyed a bumper week of profits, thanks to an influx of Easter visitors flocking to the town’s cafes, amusement arcades and shops.
Buckets and spades were out in force on Burnham beach, pictured, during the first main holiday period of the year.
The High Street was busy too, with JJ Welsh’s restuarant reporting its “busiest ever day.” Jackie Welsh told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Sunday was incredibly busy. We were rushed off our feet, with all our tables taken during the day.”
And stationery shop Bastins said it had seen “bumper trade.” Its manager said the store had been “very busy” throughout the weekend.
The Reed’s Arms pub on the seafront was so busy that it ran out of 95 per cent of meals on its menu by 6pm on Sunday, leaving hungry visitors to go elsewhere.
The crowds also flocked to nearby Brean as well. Alan House, General Manager of Brean Leisure Park, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a very busy weekend with the crowds flocking in for the car boot sale and market as well as thousands being thrilled by the new rides on the Fun Park. It was another highly successful bank holiday weekend.”
And Louise Parkin said Burnham pier’s amusements had “enjoyed a good start to the season.” She added that the cafe kiosks outside had also been “very busy” with trade up on previous years.
