There’s a busy weekend of entertainment lined up across the Burnham-On-Sea area this weekend. Our guide shows you the main highlights…
Claymaking Workshop: Visitors to Highbridge’s Apex Park will be able to enjoy a free wildlife clay workshop on Saturday April 3rd from 10am-12 noon. Children aged 5-9 years will be able to get creative – and messy – by taking part. The event will be led by Burnham artist Margaret Micklewright. More details here.
Badger Bonanza Open Weekend at Secret World: Secret World Wildlife Rescue in New Road, East Huntspill will be open to the public from Friday 2nd – Monday 5th April with talks, demonstrations and more. No admission charge, but please donate towards the work of helping wildlife. 10.00am – 4.00pm.
Easter Art Exhibition: Art from over a dozen local artists will be on display in Burnham Community Centre from Friday to Sunday, 10-4pm. Free entry.
FolkFest Fundraising Day: Numerous acts will be performing at the Railway Inn from 1pm to 11.30pm on Easter Sunday (April 4th) to raise funds towards the ever-increasing costs of holding Burnham’s annual late summer folk festival.
Motorcycle Fun Ride: Meeting at the Bristol Bridge Inn in Highbridge at 10am on Easter Sunday and riding to Minehead. Proceeds to BARB. Organised by Somerset Motorcycle Group. Fancy dress optional. More details here.
Meet Gilbert the Goose! Gilbert, a talking interactive goose display, will be greeting customers at Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll, just off junction 22 of the M5, on Friday (April 2nd), Saturday (April 3rd) and Easter Monday (April 5th) during normal garden centre opening hours.
Live music at The Railway Inn: On Friday April 2nd, it’s the return of popular local group Riverbrew as part of landlord Danny’s celebrations for his 3rd year at the High Street pub. On Saturday night (April 3rd), local group Firewall will be in action.
Tea and cakes: Tea and cakes will be served in St Michael’s Church in Brent Knoll from 2-5pm on Easter Sunday.
Hovercraft station open day: BARB’s seafront headquarters will be open to the public from 10am-4pm on Easter Sunday. See the hovercrafts, meet the crew and support BARB by buying merchandise.
Church Services: Easter Day celebration services will be held at Burnham on Sea Methodist Church: (8am, 10.30am and 6.30pm), at Brent Knoll Methodist Church (10.30am), at Brean Methodist Church (10.30am), and at West Huntspil Methodist Church (11am).
Afghanistan Fundraiser: The Orchard Inn in West Huntspill is inviting guests to a fundraising ‘heroes night’ to raise money for those fighting in Afghanistan on Friday (April 2nd). The event includes a meal and live music from opera singer Tim Pitman. More details on 01278 781401.
