New-look East Brent play area opens after £25,000 overhaul

-

A new-look play park near Burnham-On-Sea has been re-opened this week following a £25,000 overhaul.

Sedgemoor District Council formally opened the East Brent play park in Red House Road with a ribbon cutting ceremony, as pictured here.

The park at Red House Road in East Brent has received £25,254 of funding since work started in early November.

There is a new roundabout, springie-seat and multi-play unit including playhouse, crawl tunnel, ring climber, net bridge and slide.

The old junior and toddler climbing frames have been removed, which were coming towards the end of their useful life.

The council said the project had been completed ahead of schedule and within budget.

Councillor John Swayne, Portfolio Holder for Community and Scrutiny, said: “Sedgemoor District Council is committed to investing in play areas. These Sedgemoor parks, plus Southwell Gardensin Highbridge, are just phase one of an on-going project to improve the play facilities in our local parks.”

“The next parks tabled for improvement, as part of phase two, are Talbot Close, Stilings Close and Coleridge Gardens in Highbridge.”

The work is primarily funded by RLT2 developer funds with a proportion being drawn from Sedgemoor District Council’s Parks budget.
