19-year-old killed in fireball horror near Burnham-On-Sea

A 19 year-old man died in a fireball horror near Burnham-On-Sea early on Saturday (September 18th).

A BMW 328 burst into flames after crashing into a telegraph pole and leaving the road on the A370 Bridgwater Road in East Brent.

Two teenage passengers who were also in the vehicle managed to scramble free and were taken to Weston General Hospital.

Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston extinguished the fire, which completely engulfed the car.

Police have begun an investigation to try and determine what happened after the early morning accident occurred at 2am.

The A370 Bridgwater Road was closed both ways for all of the night while the emergency services were at the scene, as pictured here. Fire crews were at the scene for over five hours.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward. “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle shortly beforehand is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 0845 456 7000,” police spokesman Martin Dunscombe told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
