A one-minute silence was held on Sunday in memory of the four-year-old boy who died after falling into the sea from Burnham-On-Sea’s jetty.
Dylan Cecil, from Kettering, wanted to get a closer look at the water but slipped into the water last Sunday. His body was found on Thursday.
Over 200 people – including members of Burnham’s rescue services and local residents – joined the youngster’s parents, Rachel McCollum and Darren Cecil, and his two younger sisters, aged one and three, on the seafront this morning for a one-minute silence at 10am in memory of Dylan.
The silence was led by Reverend Graham Witts of Burnham St Andrew’s Church and was followed by brief speeches thanking the rescue services by Tessa Munt MP, Mayor Ken Smout and BARB President Neville Jones.
A service is being held this evening for the youngster and those involved in the rescue effort at St Andrew’s Church at 6pm this evening.
Reverend Witts said members of the public are invited to attend tonight’s memorial service, which is being held to paytribute to Dylan and his “little life”.
Members of the RNLI, BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and Coastguard who were involved in the rescue effort will attend the service, along with the youngster’s parents.
