More than £6,000 has this week been presented to the four charities who were involved in the search for Dylan Cecil, the four year-old boy who died after falling into the sea from Burnham-On-Sea’s jetty in August.
Dylan’s parents, Rachel and Darren, presented a cheque for £3,337 to be shared by The Coastguard Association, BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat), Burnham RNLI, and Sarbot on Saturday, as pictured above, following collections of donations held in Kettering, where the family lives.
The four charities were also presented with a further £784.48 each on Saturday evening at the town’s Dunstan House Inn, where a fundraising music day in memory of Dylan was held last month.
Event organiser Dusica Roberts and Burnham’s Mayor, Cllr Ken Smout, were joined by members of Dylan’s family to hand over the funds towards the four groups’ life-saving work, as pictured right and below.
Dylan fell into the sea from the jetty on Sunday August 19th, sparking a huge search by the town’s marine rescue services. His body was washed up four days later half a mile away on the beach near the town’s sailing club.
