This cute family of ducklings has made a Burnham-On-Sea garden their home.
Burnham resident Pauline Knight says the furry new additions were born in her garden after a Mallard duck took up residence.
“I had the privilege of a Mallard duck nesting under our lounge window from the beginning of April. I don’t think anyone else in the road knew she was there,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“That said, there were a few ‘moments’ with visiting cats and a magpie!”
“Eight ducklings hatched out last week and they used a garden pot as their home. Then, on Monday, the mother and her ducklings left for a more permanent home on a rhyne.”
“I followed them at a discreet distance and would like to thank a driver in Stoddens Road who slowed down as the duck and ducklings crossed.”
“Thanks also go to a gardener who stopped strimming his grass outside his home so they could pass comfortably.”
The family is now safely back in the wild and has been spotted happily swimming along a local rhyne.
