These were the scenes in Highbridge on Friday morning (May 8th) when police officers carried out a new drugs raid in the town.
Police entered a building in Church Street at 9.45am, where they seized a suspicious substance and arrested a man on suspicion of drug dealing.
Nearby residents watched on as officers took away a quantity of materials for further investigation, as pictured below.
A middle-aged man was also seen being led away in handcuffs by police officers.
Sgt Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the successful operation had been conducted as part of Burnham and Highbridge police’s ongoing crackdown against drug dealing and handling in the two towns.
“Drug dealing is a concern to the community and we are therefore continuing to deal with it,” he said.
Sgt Kennett confirmed: “A man has been held in custody on suspicion of supplying drugs.”
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last month how several people had been arrested in the Burnham area following a series of drugs raids.
Earlier in the year, Highbridge residents decided that tackling drug dealing should be the number one priority for police in the town, as reported here.
