A Highbridge man has been jailed for 18 months and had thousands of pounds seized following a successful police drugs raid in the town.
Darren Sedgebeer was found guilty at Bristol Crown Court of possession with the intent to supply class C drugs and possession of class B drugs.
The verdict came after local officers executed a warrant in the town under the Misuse of Drugs Act and seized cash totalling £3,400, as well as cannabis and a substantial quantity of tablets.
The court ordered the cannabis and tablets be destroyed and asked that the cash be confiscated, with the proceeds going to the police’s Asset Recovery Fund where grants are awarded to local initiatives and community activities.
PC Pete Wills, who brought the case, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the local beat team was pleased with the verdict. “It was a very good court result and one which should make people think twice about selling or taking drugs,” he said.
He that added residents in Burnham and Highbridge are encouraged to provide community intelligence to police about drugs by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
