A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving by Burnham-On-Sea Police following a second crash in Berrow’s Coast Road.
Police were called to Coast Road in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 23rd), just 24 hours after an earlier crash in which a car ended upside down in a garden.
A Police spokeswoman confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called to Coast Road at around 1am on Sunday morning (June 23rd) to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision where a car had left the road.”
“There was significant damage to the vehicle and railings around a garden,” as pictured here.
“No-one was injured or trapped inside but one person – a 26-year-old woman – was arrested.”
“Lauren Sheppard of Dynea Road, Rhydyfelin in Pontypridd, was arrested following a single vehicle road traffic collision on Coast Road.”
“On 18 July she will appear at Taunton Magistrates Court charged with driving a motor vehicle while above the drink drive limit.”
The crashes have prompted fresh calls for safety improvements along the by road.
Gavin McArdle, Chairman of Berrow Parish Council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are trying to arrange a site meeting with Somerset Highways to try and find some way of slowing traffic in the village. We will also be discussing it at our next Council meeting.”
