Dozens of youngsters in Highbridge had a busy half-term holiday, making winter safety leaflets as part of the town’s Dreamscheme initiative.
The 40 youngsters created over 350 ‘Be Safe This Winter’ leaflets featuring advice on housing, vehicle, road and personal safety during the winter period.
The group then visited Highbridge’s Asda store where they spoke to shoppers and local residents and handed out the leaflets, as pictured above.
The Dreamscheme and Highbridge Community Youth Club joined forces to hold a Halloween Party at Morland Community Hall when around 50 young people attended, and were kept entertained by a DJ and plenty of games.
PCSO Claire Chambers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s been a busy, fun week for the youngsters and we’d like to send our thanks to Sainsburys in Bridgwater who provided us with some fantastic Halloween decorations.”
“Also, thanks go to the Helium Chameleon, who helped us decorate the hall with Halloween-themed balloons.”
Highbridge’s Dreamscheme involves young people aged 8-16 taking part in community work in return for points that can be used towards day trips and other activities. If you are interested in joining, see the official website here.
