Two bar doormen in Brean have recounted how they saved the life of a woman who was left unconscious after being attacked in the village last weekend.
Dan Kilduff and Mark Powers, right, who work at Krackers Bar told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week how they revived the lady before paramedics arrived.
As first reported here, the woman and a man were assaulted outside the McColl’s shop in Brean during the early hours of Sunday September 16th – leading to police cordoning off the area, as pictured below.
Dan explained: “Everyone had left Krackers following a quiet evening – there had been no trouble whatsoever. When we went outside to bring our signs in, we could hear a lot of shouting and commotion further down the road outside McColls.”
“There was a lot of noise and a woman was on the ground being stamped on by a man. We immediately ran down to see if we could help her and managed to split up the commotion and then carried the lady back to the pub to prevent her being targeted any more.”
“She was completely unconscious and her head was covered in blood so we called for an ambulance and decided that because she was not responding to us at all that we would try and give her CPR to revive her.”
“It was a huge relief when she started to began breathing.”
Dan added: “She was in a really bad way and I’m sure she would have died without our help – she needed CPR straight away and we did what was necessary.”
The lady was rushed to hospital where she is understood to be recovering while the man sustained minor injuries. Three people were later arrested by police as part of their investigation.
Dan added that the incident did not start in Krackers and that the family-run pub has had no problems this season at all. “We pride ourselves on being a safe, family-friendly pub,” he said.
