Donkeys return to Burnham-On-Sea beach after four year absence

-

Donkeys will be returning to Burnham-On-Sea beach this summer, it has been announced by Sedgemoor District Council this week.

After an absence of four years, the council — which oversees beach concessions — says that donkeys will return to Burnham’s beach from Monday, August 19th.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Moonshine, Robert, Franke, Gerald, Bawble and Brandy will be officially welcomed to the beach by Chairman of Council, Councillor Peter Clayton on Monday, and should then be available for children to ride from Monday, tides and weather permitting, until the end of the season.”

“After seeing the plight of beach-goers after an SDC statement that they could not find anyone to fill the beach concession, Craig Harris contacted Sedgemoor to see if he could help with his herd of donkeys.”

“They are well used to pleasing children at local fetes and festivals and we’re told they are looking forward to a breath of sea air!”
