The owners of these two dogs thanked fire crews after their pets were rescued from the River Brue in Highbridge on Saturday evening (May 14th).
Two fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, plus the brigade’s Swift Water Rescue Team from Bridgwater, were sent to Huntspill Road at 6.18pm, as pictured here.
It followed a call for help from Julie Anderson and Nic Lewis, the concerned owners of two English Bull terriers.
A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “One dog managed to climb out of the river and up the embankment, but the second was unable to do this and crews assisted it to safety.”
A thermal imaging camera was used to locate the missing dog on the southern banks of the river opposite the Clyce.
Julie and Nic, pictured top, told Burnham-On-Sea.com they were grateful for the help.
“The dogs had run down the bank and gone into the river. We couldn’t see them and were worried for their safety. When we saw something getting washed downstream in the distance, we were concerned that they were in real trouble. We are very grateful for everyone’s help,” said Julie.
