A walker has warned beach users in Burnham-On-Sea to beware of two dogs following an incident when she was injured this week.
The 75 year-old pensioner was walking along the sands when she was pushed over and suffered severe bruising.
“Last Sunday I took my dog to the beach at around 6.45am when two dogs – possibly Doberman Pinschers – came running towards me, chained together and they went for my dog,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The owner was by the Allandale Road entrance and I was near The Pavilion so could not tell if the owner was male or female.”
“I chased them off and went on walking when some instinct made me turn around and I saw the dogs were coming towards me at terrific speed. They passed either side of me, and the chain caught my legs.”
“It threw me up in air and I landed on my side and have bruised my ribs. As they tried to get untangled my shoe was ripped off. I screamed and screamed at the owner and they just walked off at Maddocks Slade, leaving me on the ground.”
“I am 75 years of age and this has come as a great shock to me.”
“I would like a warning to go out to other dog walkers to be aware. I have not seen the dogs before or since, neither has anyone else who I asked so they may be holidaymakers.”
Sedgemoor District Council says its dog wardens have been informed and will be keeping an eye out for the animals.
