A dog walker was rescued by Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and BARB on Tuesday (September 3rd) after getting stuck in mud as she attempted to reach her stranded Labrador.
Rose Prosser tried to wade through thick mud to reach her pet, called Holly, after it become completely stranded on the banks of the River Brue at Burnham-On-Sea Yacht Club, as pictured here.
However, Rose herself became stuck and required the help of rescue crews after venturing out too far.
She managed to attract the attention of a passer-by who alerted Burnham Coastguards and rescue charity BARB.
Rose was taken onto a stretcher and helped to safety, while Holly was lifted out of the mud and led back to the beach.
Rose, from Bristol, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am extremely grateful for the help of the Coastguards and BARB for their swift help in both our rescues.”
“I was surprised at how easy it is to get stuck in the mud and was relieved that the tide was out at the time.”
