Burnham Coastguards and BARB called to help riverbank dog walker

-

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and BARB crewmembers were called to help a dog walker after her pet was injured in an accident on Friday morning (September 5th).

Crews were called to an isolated footpath along the River Brue on the far side of the estuary opposite Burnham Sailing Club at 9.50am where the dog walker had raised the alarm that one her two dogs had been injured.

A Coastguard spokesman said: “The dog had a suspected broken leg and was at a remote location on the river estuary, so Coastguards and a BARB crew were tasked to help the owner.”

Crews carried the dog, an Alaskan Malamute, to a waiting vet who had been called to the scene from a local Burnham surgery.

The dog owner, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was “hugely grateful” for the help of the crews.
