Dog poo bag dispensers installed in Burnham-On-Sea town centre to halt fouling

-

The owner of a dog grooming salon in Burnham-On-Sea is installing poo bag dispensers in the town centre in an attempt to reduce dog fouling.

BOS Dogs Grooming Salon in Victoria Street has installed the first dispenser on a lamp post outside the shop with a message attached to it urging dog owners to be responsible and remove dog poo.

Niki-Lou French told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There has been a lot of talk lately of dog fouling over the pavements and play areas in our town which, as a small business, I have also personally been affected by.”

“So I feel strongly that this issue needs to be addressed, and as a business owner working in the pet industry I feel that we have a responsibility to try to help educate and encourage dog owners to be respectful and clean up after their pet in public.”

She adds: “I have been involved recently with a ‘bag it, bin it’ campaign competition with Litter Free Somerset. I first came across the poop bag dispenser idea posted on a local Facebook group which was done by a group of Scouts in another town and I thought it was brilliant!”

“I am currently making another three dispensers which I’m hoping to place around town in the week.”

“I’m really hoping that the town and public will get behind it to ensure our lovely town stays clean and safe for us all to enjoy.”

Last week, Burnham-On-Sea.com reported on anger from residents at dog fouling leaving ‘filthy’ Burnham-On-Sea seafront pavements.
