Ice creams for dogs and a dog paddling pool are among the unique items being offered by Burnham-On-Sea businesses to welcome pet-owning holidaymakers this summer.
Burnham’s Treasure Chest Gift Shop and The Pavilion are selling ice creams for dogs from Marshfield Ice Creams.
Geoff Lewis at the Treasure Chest on The Esplanade told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We get lots of four-legged visitors over the summer months with families and these dog ices have been really popular during the hot weather. We fully sold out at one point.”
“The ices include dog-friendly ingredients such as Omega 3 and dog joint supplements and come in a vanilla flavour. They sell at £2 a time.”
Coffee Corner in Burnham’s Abingdon Street is also selling doughnuts for dogs at £2.50 each which have special natural ingredients that are healthy for dogs.
The cafe has also set up a paddling pool outside its premises, as pictured here, which has allowed dog owners to cool their pets’ paws during the hot weather.
The cafe’s Zena Driver told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our paddling pool has got lots of very positive comments from dog owners ken to keep their pets’ paws cool in the hot weather — it has been so hot over the last weeks that dogs could have damaged their paws on hot pavements.”
