Four dog owners fined for fouling in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge

-

Four irresponsible dog owners in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have been issued with fines following the launch of increased patrols by council dog wardens.

As first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com last week, Sedgemoor District Council’s Dog Wardens have stepped up their patrols in known problem areas to try and reduce the problem of public footpaths and pavements being fouled.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “In response to public concern over the past three weeks Sedgemoor District Council’s dog wardens have undertaken additional work targeting areas with known dog fouling problems in Burnham and Highbridge.”

“Through this work they have issued four fixed penalty notices to dog owners for not clearing up after their animals.”

“Hopefully, this will serve as a deterrent to other dog owners tempted not to clear up after their dogs and shows Sedgemoor’s commitment to dealing with these issues.”

Fixed penalty notices are £50 and, if not paid within seven days, the fine rises to £75. Failure to pay the fixed penalty notice can result in those responsible being prosecuted for the offence.
