Burnham-On-Sea fails to win title of Disney World’s UK twin town

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s hopes of becoming twinned with Walt Disney World in Florida have been dashed this week.

Four nominations were put forward for Burnham to gain the title of ‘Walt Disney World’s UK Twinned Town’ in a unique competition that closed in November.

However, the winning town was this week announced as Swindon.

Hugh Wood, of Disney Destinations International, said: “Britain clearly has a love for Walt Disney World and long-standing affinity with the parks and their magic, which is probably why the number and quality of entries received was so high.”

Swindon beat 24 other UK towns competing for the unique honour, with the winning entry shown here. Four entrants had nominated Burnham by publishing photos, video and descriptions of the town on the Disney website.

One entrant says: “Every November we have the beautiful Carnival which brings light to the winter darkness, celebrates creativity and unifies our community.”
