New desserts restaurant to replace former Burnham building society

-

A former building society premises in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea is set to be transformed into a new restaurant ‘specialising in Belgian waffles, crepes, cheesecake, cakes, and ice creams’.

The premises at 14 College Street was formerly home to the Britannia building society and then the Co-operative Bank until it closed in 2016, as reported here.

But the new owner has submitted a planning application to Sedgemoor District Council for “a change of use of a former building society premises (Use Class A2) to a restaurant (Use Class A3).”

The applicant states: “The proposed use of the building would be as a restaurant. My client is keen to open a business that will serve a selection of hot and cold desserts including Belgian waffles and crepes cooking and served on site, cheesecake cakes, cakes, soft scoop ice cream and sundaes.”

The Planning Application is reference number 11/19/00033 and comments are welcomed by Sedgemoor District Council until April 22nd, 2019.
