A long-standing Somerset County Council roads manager who has overseen several road maintenance projects in Burnham and Highbridge was the centre of attention during a presentation ceremony at Monday’s town council meeting.
Highway Services Manager Dennis Herniman was handed a leaving present by Cllr Neville Jones and Burnham’s Mayor, Cllr Eric Gill.
“I have known Dennis for many years going back as far as 1977,” said Cllr Jones. “He’s always looked after Burnham and Highbride particularly well, for which we are very grateful.”
Dennis, who lives at East Huntspill, has worked in the highways department for over 41 years.
