Burnham-On-Sea residents who are concerned about memory loss can get free advice during a special event in the town next week.
NHS Somerset says forgetfulness happens to everyone at some time in their lives, but can lead people to worry about the symptoms hiding a disease such as dementia.
This year – as part of Dementia Awareness Week from 21st-25th May – residents can climb aboard a special community bus visiting Burnham on Monday 21st May to pick up advice and guidance from experts if you think you or a family member may be affected by memory loss or dementia.
On board the bus visitors will be able to meet NHS dementia advisers and support staff while finding out more about how to look after your memory, play memory games and get information about living with dementia or caring for sufferers.
The bus will be to the public from 10.30am–3.00 pm on Monday 21st May in Burnham’s Morrisons Supermarket in Pier Street.
Carolyn Arscott, NHS Somerset Health Promotion Manager for Older People, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We can help people to find out more about memory problems and the support available in Somerset for those with a diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.”
