A Burnham-On-Sea man who was found dead in the bathroom of his flat had been there for several weeks, an inquest has heard this week.
The body of David Sheringham, 66, was discovered in his flat in Burnham’s Abingdon Street on September 18th.
Concerned neighbours had called Police after seeing flies on the window of his home.
The last confirmed sighting of Mr Sheringham was when he attended an appointment at his local doctor’s surgery on August 11th, the inquest in Taunton heard.
A policeman who carried out a ‘concern for welfare check’ gave a statement to the coroner that when he entered the property, the smell was overwhelming.
A post-mortem was unable to uncover the cause of death, but a search carried out by Police had found no cause for suspicion.
Senior Somerset Coroner Tony Williams recorded the cause of the death and the verdict as unascertained.
