A Burnham-On-Sea author is set to launch his sixth novel at a book signing session on Saturday (October 1st).
The book, called Death Sentence, is the latest in Damien Boyd’s DI Nick Dixon Crime Series.
Damien will be signing copies of the new book at GW Hurley book shop in Burnham High Street at 10am this Saturday, 1st October.
Damien told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Death Sentence was great fun to write, with the research taking me down Swildon’s Hole with members of the Wessex Cave Club to experience it for myself.”
“I had never been caving before and it was a truly magical trip. If you’ve never been, I can heartily recommend it!”
The popular series of crime thrillers follows the exploits of Nick Dixon, a detective inspector in the Avon & Somerset Police, based at the new police centre at Express Park, Bridgwater.
The previous novel – which was the fifth in the series – was called Dead Level and was published in March this year.
Damien added: “The setting takes in some familiar spots, such as Berrow beach and, of course, Burnham-On-Sea, but also some new ones too, Dixon visiting the Mendips and North Curry. He also ventures further afield to London, Pembrokeshire, Bristol and Birmingham in a frantic race against time.”
“The body of an elderly man is found in an abandoned World War Two pillbox beside the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. With no obvious motive and no credible suspect, DI Nick Dixon starts digging into the victim’s past.”
“The more he digs, the deeper Dixon is drawn into a case that takes him from the cave systems beneath rural Somerset to the heart of government, and threatens to expose a military cover-up at the highest level.”
“Blocked by a wall of silence, Dixon must unravel a dangerous conspiracy before the killer strikes again.”
“Early feedback has, once again, been overwhelmingly positive,” said Damien, “and I hope that fans of the series will enjoy it.”
Death Sentence will be officially released on Tuesday 4th October.
