A Burnham-On-Sea resident has warned that cyclists using The Esplanade are “an accident waiting to happen.”
Sylvia Young told town councillors at their meeting on Monday (June 6th): “It’s an accident waiting to happen – many cyclists have no bells and give no warning. It seems pedestrians have no priority anywhere any longer.”
“I wonder whether local councils have decided to take a blind eye to contraventions, possibly due to a lack of manpower and finance?”
“The definition of ‘Esplanade’ is a long, level area for walking, especially by the sea.”
Cllr Andy Brewer said he would follow up on her concerns and keep her informed.
