Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Inner Wheel have been thanked by Weston General Hospital for making dozens of cushions for their patients.
The Burnham club’s President, Janet Breed, and member Rita Jolliffe handed over the 27 breast cushions to the hospital this week and were thanked by Head Macmillan Nurse Claire Garnell.
“Claire actually took some up to the ward straight away and gave one to a patient who had had a mastectomy that morning,” the club’s Sandra Moon told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“These cushions are made for ladies who have had recent operations and help aliviate the pain. They have to be made with special soft silk, which our members bring back from holidays.”
“The club is so pleased to be helping such a good cause and bringing comfort to these patients.”
The Burnham Inner Wheel Club is currently the only local organistion club donating the cushions to Weston Hospital.
