Burnham-On-Sea Cultural Olympiad concert to be held this weekend

The start of the UK’s four-year Cultural Olympiad during the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games is to be marked with a free outdoor concert in Burnham-On-Sea this weekend.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Band will be playing at the bandstand in the town’s Manor Gardens on Saturday afternoon (September 27th) from 2pm – 4pm.

Concerts will be held simultaneously across the region where brass bands and other music acts will perform for free to the public. A total of 50 concerts in 50 bandstands will be held throughout the whole of the South West to celebrate the launch of the Cultural Olympiad.

The Cultural Olympiad is a four-year celebration of arts and culture being held across the country in the run-up to the 2012 Games.

Saturday’s concert in Burnham is being run by organised by Superact, a group formed in 2006 with the intention of helping musicians throughout the south west. Click here for more details about the Cultural Olympiad.
