Residents in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea have this week called for more police action to halt speeding motorists late at night following a crash in which a car careered through a roadside bollard, sending debris across pavements.
Pieces of tarmac and wheel hubs were thrown into the wall of one house in Cross Street at 4am on Sunday, waking startled residents.
One resident, Tom Farquharson, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was actually lucky this happened so early in the morning or a walker could have been passing and been hit by the vehicle or the debris.”
“Speeding is often a problem along this street at night and better policing would definitely help,” he said.
Police spokesman Simon Whitby confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com that officers had been called to the scene at 3.51am on Sunday.
