A group of young cricketers from Burnham-On-Sea picked up tips from some of the world’s best players when they visited an international match this week.
A dozen Year 9 cricketers from Higbridge’s King Alfred School visited Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on Wednesday (12th June) to watch Australia v New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to watch international players in action – an opportunity provided by ‘Chance to Shine’, an initiative to get more young people playing cricket,” the school’s Peter Harris, Teacher of PE, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Unfortunately, the weather meant that the game did not finish, but the students thoroughly enjoyed the 65 overs of top class action. It is hoped they will have learnt something from these top professionals and be able to put that into their future school matches!”
