Crews called to help injured walker blown over in sand dunes at Berrow

-

Crews from Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard and BARB Search & Rescue were called to Berrow this morning to help a walker who had suffered a fall in the strong winds.

Crews were called out just after 8am close to the dunes near Sandy Glade holiday park where a lady had suffered an injury.

A BARB spokesman said: “Our calls were called out 8.07am this morning to assist Burnham Coastguard with the search for a missing person in the sand dunes at Berrow. She had suffered a fall in the strong winds while walking her dogs and was unsure of her exact location.”

“BARB sent two teams of volunteers with our 4x4s and our Polaris multi-terrain vehicle to the scene. The lady was quickly found and carried on a stretcher by our crews and Coastguards to a waiting ambulance in nearby Coast Road.”

“This was another great example of close team working for a successful conclusion. Our thoughts are with the lady for a swift recovery.”
