A new collection point for Bridgwater and District Credit Union has been opened in Burnham-On-Sea this week.
The new service in Elizabeth Court in Mendip Way was opened on Monday (22nd August).
The union’s aim is to provide a safe, convenient place to save and also provide low-cost loans after a savings record has been established.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial organisations regulated by the Financial Services Authority and run by volunteers for the benefit of their members. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Sedgemoor or Quantock Vale.
The new Elizabeth Court collection point is open from 10am to 11am each Monday and joins established collection points at Hope Baptist Church in Highbridge on Thursday mornings and the Methodist Church in College Street, Burnham on Friday mornings.
There are also five collection points in Bridgwater, including Sedgemoor District Council’s office in King Square and the Citizens Advice Bureau. Savings can also be made by standing order.
Development worker Elaine Rollo told Burnham-On-Sea.com she hopes that other collection points can be established so that more people can take advantage of the benefits the group offers. For details on how to join, call 01278 447100 or visit the group’s website at www.bridgwater-and-district-credit-union.co.uk.
