Creature found washed up on Brean beach is a conger eel, says Burnham fisherman

-

A shocked beach walker has taken these photos of a bizarre looking creature found washed up on Brean beach this week.

Cheryl Hingley shot the photos on her mobile phone after finding the 1ft-long body washed up on the tideline. She has posted them online to try and find out what it is.

A local fisherman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that it’s “almost certainly” a conger eel.

“They can look quite scary like this but are quite common, and can grow up to 3 metres or 10ft long. This one seems to have been dead for some time.”
